Recent News Stories
Some recent stories from Red Dragon:
FAT CAMP - Cardiff is hosting Wales first American-style fat camp for kids this summer. It come as figures show that one third of children in Wales are dangerously overweight. We voxed people to find out what they think about the camp coming here and whether they would send their own children there if they were obese.

KNIVES - We found out that as part of a South Wales Police summer crackdown on anti social behaviour - they were planning on searching for knives as fans went to the Jay-Z gig at the CIA. We spoke to a policeman about why they were doing it and whether it would be rolled out at all concerts in Cardiff.

DEPORTATION - Red Dragon found out that a pregnant Nigerian woman who had been living in Cardiff with her family was to be deported back to Nigeria after her claim for asylum was rejected.  She had been trafficked here to work as a prostitute but managed to escape - she claims she would be killed by the gang who brought her to the UK if she had to go back to Nigeria.  She was allowed to stay in the UK for the time being as it turns out she hadn't been given the right to appeal against the decision to send her back.

SMOKING - We uncovered the story that an Assembly Minister who had backed the smoking ban in Wales had been thrown out of a pub for smoking a cigar. It was not a good month for Rhodri Glyn Thomas - two weeks earlier he had announced the wrong winner at the Wales Book of the Year awards.  Less than 24 hours after we broke the news about him smoking a cigar he had resigned - saying his position in the Welsh Assembly was unsustainable.

MILLENIUM STADUIM - Its emerged that the Welsh Rugby Union are thinking about offering business the chance of a million pound per year sponsorship deal.  It would mean that the Stadium could be renamed after a company - like in the cases of the Walkers, Reebok and Liberty stadiums.  We went to the Millenium Stadium and voxed people outside.  We also put up an online poll so people could vote - 3 out of 4 voted to keep the name the same.
